PERSONA

Nara has a very calm and gentle demeanor. It takes a lot to irritate or anger her, and even then she doesn't show it in an overly obvious manner. She has nerves of steel and the patience of an angel, which she has the many years of babysitting her younger brother to thank for.

She isn't at all easily offended but she does tend to hold a lifelong grudge against the person who manages to do so.

She knows exactly what she wants and she won't compromise her own happiness or success for anything or anyone, with the exception of her family. Blood is thicker than water after all. She's all for following dreams and ambitions.

Emotional manipulation, guilt tripping, excessive complaining, and the like are things she absolutely cannot stand.

HISTORY
Birth. Nara wasn't exactly brought into the world at the most opportune time for her parents. Her dad was yet again between jobs and her mom was on the verge of leaving him. If it hadn't been for Nara, the family were quite sure the marriage wouldn't have lasted much longer. It wasn't an absence of love, just the absence of romance. In the beginning things had seemed perfect, but of course that hadn't lasted very long after their honeymoon ended. Despite all that, Nara was very much loved and treasured. Her parents might have been a little too overprotective though, but they couldn't really be faulted for that. The neighborhood in which they lived for the first few years of Nara's life wasn't exactly meant for families.

Elementary school. When ignorance and innocence were still bliss and actually attainable. Nara enjoyed school, but she had a hard time making friends. She was a little tall for her age and children were ruthless. The teasing didn't bother her much, but that seemed to spur them on even more, and even she had a breaking point. After a few notes home to her parents plus a few trips to the principal's office for fighting, the family decided to move to the city.

Seoul was their new home.

Nara's new school was bigger and busier. With so many students around it was only a matter of time before she finally made friends.

Divorce. It was a last resort, so her mom told her. Her parents had been fine for a while, but after the birth of their second child, things started to unravel. Her dad spent most of his time 'working' and her mom spent most of hers complaining about it. Nara shut herself away in her room the majority of the time, taking her baby brother with her, if only to shield him from the petty arguing going on in the living room.

It was during one of those arguments that Nara picked up a pencil and began to draw. Just a sketch, and not a very good one at that, but she liked it. Drawing turned into her new distraction, and each time she set pencil to paper she seemed to improve. Before long she'd forgotten all about worrying over her parents' divorce, about being top of her class, or about the boy she wanted so badly to like her.

High School. Nara now lived with her mom and younger brother, while her dad decided to move back to their old, surprisingly still empty, house in the crummy neighborhood she didn't like to remember. Things were looking up though. Nara had found her forte; art. She used whatever mediums available to create things. Pencil, charcoal, paint, computers. She'd even started charging a small fee at school for portraits and fan art of the current popular k-drama actors or the bustiest anime girls.

It was something she could see herself pursuing.

Eventually fan art turned into short manga comics, and before she knew it she'd somehow created her very own world with characters to go in it.

University. Digital Art had been calling her name for quite a while, so choosing a major was easy. Choosing a sorority on the other hand, was not. Nara felt she might fit in with each one in different ways, but it was the Sigma Kappa girls who eventually captured her heart.

She moved into the dorms and felt free for the first time in a long while. No more babysitting her brother, no more listening to her parents drag each other through the dirt whenever she was staying with one of them, and no more pressure from her grandparents to find a man - because apparently in their slightly insane minds, lack of boyfriends plus her interest in art would turn her to lesbianism. She tried that, wasn't really her thing though.
